It's a hard area to read weatherwise. For the Lewis Pass region I often look at both Canterbury High Country and Nelson Lakes, then decide which is most applicable depending on the prevailing weather pattern/direction.

Actually, that's not true. I'm never drunk IN a spa, only when I get out of one into the cold air. So I'll be very congenial whilst relaxing, yet potentially tottering when preparing for beddy-bys.....
