Cool: sounds like kayaking & packrafting in safe locations is in then under (iii) then? Just in time for winter.
Fortunately for Christchurch, Banks Peninsula District Council amalgamated with us so we can do day walks on Banks Peninsula where there are some decent hills. I looked at a Chinese study of transmission in 318 small clusters. Only one of these transmission clusters occured out of doors. The rest were transmitted indoors on on transit systems (transport) so that's encouraging. https://www.nationalreview.com/corner/coronavirus-transmission-chinese-study-shows-covid-more-likely-spread-indoors/ But while the study “does not rule out outdoor transmission of the virus,” it notes that “among our 7,324 identified cases in China with sufficient descriptions, only one outdoor outbreak involving two cases occurred.”
I keep stareing at Mt Thomas from the bedroom window. Got things to do this weekend but after that Im free in more ways than one. There are seval places in that range that are day trips that I just havnt had time to do
Thumbs up

Dear Straining-at-the-leash. YHA are hopeful of being functional in Level 2. Can't see a problem with tenting if that's the case. Uncontrolled communal huts & public toilets, not so much ?. Know in another week ?. Kind regards, PA
West coast was too far for aucklanders... https://www.nzherald.co.nz/nz/news/article.cfm?c_id=1&objectid=12329152
If you lived on the Waitakari side then maybe that was unfair but Auckland has all the harbour beaches. Bit boreing if you want a surf but still a beach you can swim at
dunno. muriwai you have to drive north out of auckland before you even head west. its a bit of a stretch and muriwai doesnt have a big carpark. they never said anything about the other west coast beaches that I recall.
The reporter couldnt go to other beaches as it was outside his bubble maybe? Its a long way by road from Murawai to Piha etc. Whats the surf like at Takapuna?
Need to be careful getting out in the outdoors, even for a presumably allowed day-trip. It looks like you would face a prosecution under the Health Act if you got in a situation where you needed rescuing. https://www.stuff.co.nz/national/121389048/angler-charged-after-rescue-from-island-in-waimakariri-river-canterbury
two anglers ended up being charged in seperate incidents... dont recall the message that they would prosecute people and the penalty will be $$$, the main message was don't but that isnt going to stop a lot of people unless they realise there's teeth to that
