Tramping illegal

Tramping is now officially illegal. https://www.odt.co.nz/news/national/new-law-officially-bans-hunting-surfing-and-swimming-during-lockdown
At all 4 Levels ?. Until they decide it's not a forbidden activity & they change the law ?.
find the new law.... or is is another scenario where the police saying places are out of bounds when legally they technically arent.... under current law police cant stop you in your car or enter your house for breaching covid 19 unless they have reason to believe you have the virus, yet they are stopping people at will and putting up road blocks. the police are making out they have more powers than they do like DOC saying tracks and parks are closed when the law says they arent.... you cant even go for a short swim in calm water next to the shoreline or do a short paddle board... can't enter a forest park, it sounds like the vast majority of NZers were obeying the laws but the police are just completely stamping their authority all over this, you are now in a police run state and we only have one person in ICU, the vast majority of infected NZers are outside the agegrup wher most people are affected, the vast majority of NZers are observing safe distancing, if we keep the elderly seperated from everyone else the chance of deaths in NZ may well be pretty slim... australia is far looser on the rules than we are although they have closed forest parks as well. Ok i understand the reasons for the rules.. but it speaks of we dont trust you do follow the recommendations.... its not like we have anything like the tramping rescues as car accidents... but they want absolutely zero incidents , be interesting to see how long this goes on for, and how it affects peoples mental wellbeing... https://www.stuff.co.nz/national/crime/120785044/coronavirus-police-lack-power-to-truly-enforce-lockdown-rules
Okay. "Section 70(1)(f) Health Act Order" Under "Permissions for essential personal movement" Then "Limited recreation purposes" It specifies tramping under "e. iii" The Order has effect from 1800hrs 3/4/2020 The Order expires on 11.59pm 22 April 2020 (unless earlier revoked or extended). https://covid19.govt.nz/assets/resources/Legislation-and-key-documents/COVID-19-Section-701f-Notice-to-all-persons-in-New-Zealand-3-April-2020-v2.PDF EDIT: 14/4 Previous link no longer works. Found a copy thru Ministry of Health. https://www.health.govt.nz/system/files/documents/pages/covid-19-section-701f-notice-to-all-persons-in-new-zealand-3-april-2020-v2.pdf
I think it was a police commissioner (AUS) who summed it up for me; "stop trying to find loopholes, just stay home"
Thumbs up

Not to suggest it should be a major focus, but can anyone see what penalty would apply? All I can find is section 136 of the Health Act, which is a general catch all clause for offences with no other prescribed penalty. It's a maximum of $500 plus $50 post additional day. http://www.legislation.govt.nz/act/public/1956/0065/latest/whole.html#DLM308720
My pdf says, under "Assistance from Constables", they can do anything reasonably necessary to assist in ensuring compliance with the order. Includes, but not limited to, compelling, enforcing or ensuring compliance .... Preventing or reducing the extent of doing the thing forbidden. Apart from the fine, if you do or say the wrong thing when confronted by an Officer of the Law, things could escalate. https://3.bp.blogspot.com/-ABcf2idTN9U/WM1-TZ4MI8I/AAAAAAAAD7A/QNDxE7iDV14w__6mQUldDYfE3hfKTXvvwCLcB/s1600/go-ahead-make-my-day-quote-1.jpg
may not matter what law you put in place , there are always people willing to break the law, and most people were complying with the current rules, from what i could tell. you certainly see the difference when you can get outside OK stay home, life is dangerous, stay home. seems to be discussion is being shut down with "stay home" all the time yes there are reasons for saying that, but is that over simplifying the discussion around covid? i thought the vast majority of nzers were following the rules by and large part of the issue overseas with the spread was the lateless of lockdown incompleteness of lockdown and complete lack of compliance buy large no's of people., people crammed onto public transport, flocking to shopping malls. partying... australias lockdown is far more leniant than NZ's yet NZ wants to lock down even further.... it wont surprise me if nz get through this pretty well. we have one person in ICU, we dont have a large no of elderly infected as has happened overseas, euro countries the elderly live and mingle with younger people more than they do here on a daily basis. how many people here their grand parents live without extended family or in retirement homes? the northern hemisphere are at the end of winter, vitamin d levels low from lack of sun expsosure which is proven to compromise the immune system. a lot of northern hemisphere cities have terrible air quality that compromises peoples lungs enabling infections to get more of a hold. how much of how much the virus affects you is to do with your health? spanish flu came at a time when there were a lot of pepole living unhealthier lives than the average NZer has today, but there are still a lot of people who live unhealthy lives today, not enough fresh air and excercise, too much work stress, too much junk food an alcohol, poor immune systems, yeah i could be wrong, but i'm trying to compare whats going on there with here and see if there are differences that could be relevant
I guess with tramping illegal now we will have to start hiking instead. =) Seriously, I’m still wondering whether it ok for me to drive 5 mins from my house and walk the Beveridge / Slip track loop. I would walk to the start but the lack of footpaths on Scenic drive rules that out.
police are saying no driving at all to your recreational area... whats worse, risking life and limb walking on a road with no footpath or driving to where its safer. if you're self isolating anyway.... but i authorities may still expect you to walk around your property instead and tough that theres no footpath...
