Walked this in two days over new year, stopping at Pool Hut. Nobody on foot but a number of cyclists, a motor bike, and several 4WDs in at Cow Stream hot pools. Pool Hut was just me and one other. Beautiful weather.

Passed by on the way to Pool Hut. Bunks were full and somebody was camping nearby.

Rough little hut but with comfortable new bunks. Despite a lot of mountain bikers in the valley, only shared with one other.

Nice walk once you get past the crowds of bikes. I think there was an event on.

Walked it in the rain. Not so many views, but a beautiful little walk.

Beautiful day up there today. The view into the Ashburton Lakes basin and through to d’Archiac is always something special. Scree buttercups everywhere.

Beautiful spot. Very close views of hoiho. Take the time to visit if passing by.

The tors around ABC Cave were very interesting country. Threatening rain, which started to fall just as I was walking along Mountain Road. By the time I was back in Dunedin, it was bucketing down.

Nice cave. Swallows nesting inside. I was going to stay the night, but I got bored, so I walked on.

Nice little hut surrounded by pretty forest.

Planned to stay the night but I walked out instead. Nice spot, but the 4WDs have made a bit of a mess. Too many wasps.

Outstanding hut, but not so many visitors. I had it to myself. The walk up Kirwans Hill from the hut is not so much "up" as over to. Walk it in the afternoon to avoid morning cloud blocking the views.

Hot and sunny. Saw a weka, lots of fantails and brown creepers, heard kākāriki, shining cuckoo. Lots of wasps. Planned three days, but got very bored at Montgomerie Hut so I walked out.

Bridle Path to Mount Pleasant today. Hot.
