The head of Bowenvale Avenue is generally busy with mountain bikes, and the first section of track can be a bit hazardous. If you have small children in tow, you might try dropping into the Bowenvale Valley via the Eastside Bush Track and missing the faster traffic at the bottom.
From the road end, the wide track leads through farmland. After a few minutes, a foot track starts through a gate on the right, keeping pedestrians away from the bikes. The foot track leads uphill along the road, crosses a small bridge and sidles under rocky bluffs, into pine forest, and onto the main track at the Eastside Track junction. Continuing uphill, the track passes the end of the Hidden Valley Track.
From here on, it's foot access only along a peaceful valley with pretty revegetation along the stream. Sugarloaf dominates the view of the head of the valley. Past the top junction of the Eastside Bush Track where two valleys meet, the track climbs onto grassland with poles marking the way.
Finally, the track turns out onto a mountain bike track beneath Summit Road. Follow this for a minute or two to the right, to a car park directly east of Sugarloaf.
