Getting there
Getting there
Easiest access is from the end of Gannons Road which leaves H69 just north of Reefton at the sawmill. Drive to the end of this road and park in one of the parking areas at the old coal mine unless you plan on 4x4ing up to the hut. Secondly there is a track from Kirwans hut via Kirwans Creek & Montgomerie River but that is the long way to get to this hut and the info is only provided for those interested in a round trip.

Thirdly the Murray Creek track from Blacks Point on SH7 can be used.
