For some reason DOC's appeal to the Supreme Court is continuing to go ahead, with DOC more or less arguing that it should be able to treat Specially Protected Land as if it's Stewardship Land without having to demonstrate that the Specially Protected status isn't deserved.
Even if there's no dam, there could still be implications to come for the protected status, or not, of conservation land throughout New Zealand.
