Branched off because I'm happy to talk about kilts. Or as I affectionately refer to them, my manskirts. :)
I have two. (See the photos).
The blue one is an actual hiking kilt. Super light-weight, very quick to dry. It's the one I wore on the NI section of TA, and the one I wear on longer/more difficult tramps.
It's faded a lot. The face of it now looks purple (which is kinda cool). But it managed to acquire a small tear, so I reckon I'm not far away from ordering a new one.
My second kilt is yellow. Stands out like the proverbial dogs knackers! :D
It's not a full woolen traditional kilt, but it is heavier. I like to wear this one on shorter/easier tramps.

I'm jealous, they sound and look so comfy. But I bet I (or any woman) would get more strange looks than you for wearing a skirt in the mountains
The pics look good ... but where's the realtree camo blaze orange option? Tartan just wouldn't go wirh my top.
Sian, more women are wearing skirts in the mountains. You ladies have the bonus of being able to wear comfortable material tighter versions. If *I* wear a tight skirt, I WILL get strange looks! (And no one wants to see that anyway)! :D
Madpom, Sports Kilt do all sorts, and even custom make one just for you. :)
@SianS, I'm seeing skirts on the trails more and more. And I can see why. Easier to change from short to long leggings...
