Vitamin D
This thread branched from "Packing list" on . Explore the branch.
its not just a vitamin its a master steroid hormone precurser, it is needed to make every hormone in your body, to have adequate levels of hormones you must first have adequate levels of vitamin D.
for your immune system to work adequately you need adequate amounts of vitamin D, it stimulates your entire immune system.
if you are deficient in vitamin D, increasing your levels or vitamin d can boost energy levels

Then there's that scary school of thought that says people with autoimmune diseases have high levels of the active hormone (1-25 hydroxy vitamin D) and low levels of the storage form (25 hydroxy vit. D) and if we take Vit D. we will block our Vitamin D receptor sites with excess vitamin D and stop other hormones that use this receptor site from docking on e.g. progesterone, oestrogen and T3.
Unfortunately in New Zealand the test to measure 1-25 hydroxy Vit D. levels costs over $400 and needs a doctor to request it. So I can't tell if I'm in this category or not.
