Torches

Hi, I'm looking for a cheap, yet decent torch. Only go tramping once or twice a year so not after a top of the line torch. Any suggestions? Cheers.
I haven't bought one for a while, but I've seen people with quite nice looking head-torches from hardware shorp, like Mitre 10, that supposedly cost on the order of $10-$20. If you're not planning to walk at night, I think you can get away with passable something pretty cheap.
I have an Led Lenser H5 best head tourch ever prices can range from 30-60 with this depending on the store and if they are having a sale or not.
In the movies they just wrap a fuel soaked rag around a stick and light it. Thats cheap.
I have a little Energizer headtorch from the supermarket (New World, but you can probably get them elsewhere), runs on 3 AAA batteries. Cost about $22 I think. Good enough to walk by at night. I used it on the Oxfam Trailwalker 100km walk; my Kathmandu LED head torch of a similar size was too dim to walk by, but this one was good. I'm not sure if it's waterproof (haven't had to test it in wet weather).
I have a Cree Headlamp, they are brilliant, batteries last for ages. If it super bright - bright enough to spotlight possums with. Very cheap at $20 per unit, Lightweight and durable. Here is a link to one as I have only found them on Trademe, http://www.trademe.co.nz/Sports/Camping-outdoors/Torches/Headlamps/auction-342264327.htm You wont be dissapointed in these little beauties
That trademe headlamp looks quite good. Im using a Katmandu half watt led headlamp which works well and from memory was still only 20 or 30 bucks. I had a cheap led headlamp before that but water got in.The katmando has o ring seals. You can get cheaper ones but if they leak they wont last long. My half watt will do 4 or 5 tramps plus getting firewood in winter on a set of 3 aaa batteries on
The story with cheap headlamps is to have two in the pack. It is easier to changer lamps than it is to change batteries in the dark.
Plenty of selection on http://www.dealextreme.com/ for near bargain prices, plus they have free international postage. (feel like a spam bot writing that). Here is a thread from Huntnfish forum testing a few of them out. http://www.fishnhunt.co.nz/forum/YaBB.cgi?num=1285588879 If to lazy or not prepared to go international, then nothing wrong with the ever ready/energizer lights which most large stores sell. If preprepared to spend a bit more then Fenix torches and headlamps are awesome value.
