Duckville Hut
Te Urewera
A small hut in the Ikiwhenua Range at the Western end of Urewera national park.
This hut is very small and the 4 bunks are overlapping in the corner so you will be playing footseys all night.
However this hut was recently re clad and re windowed and even the open fireplace was rebuilt, so it is a real gem to visit.

Getting there
|
1/Up the Ohutu Stream from Galatea, this track is quite overgrown. 18/4/22 Farmer has marked with blue pail lids all the way up to and over the waterfall. BE AWARE the track over the waterfall is very steep and have to cross slip faces to pass. No markers past this point stream washed parts of track out. 2/Directly up the stream from Mangamako Hut or 3/Over the top of Mt Hikurangi though there is no track from the summit of Hikurangi so good bush navigation skills required. |
