There are two huts on Rodger Inlet, the new (2009) 6 bunk hut (replacing the original A-frame) and the original 2 bunk hut.

The new hut has a wood fireplace, outside rainwatertank and tap, and even has chairs on its lake facing deck! The huts are located 30m from the lake shore, and a muddy beach allows swimming / bathing.

The hut is a convenient stopping place on the 3-5 day circuit from the Lake Monowai roadend via Green Lake and Lake Monowai hut. It also provides a base to explore the tops to the west via a well maintained track.

A popular stopover for boaties and hunters, there is unfortunately a large amount of rubbish/empty alcohol bottles in the surrounding forest.
