Travers Sabine in October

Hi Trampers - Wondering. Anybody done the Travers Sabine in mid to late October? If so, what's it usually like above the Upper Travers hut at that time of year? Cheers, Paul
Hi Paul.I was in the Travers valley last October around Labour weekend.Around the upper valley there was still quite a lot of snow and in fact at the back of Upper Travers hut there was a big bank of snow obscuring the back windows.I went up to near the top of the saddle and the snow was waist deep with a lot of ice too.To do the trip over to the Sabine valley would have needed crampons and iceaxe just to be safe.Hope this is of some help.
