Cascade - Ngapuketurua
Has anyone any up to date info on state of the track from Cascade over Ngapuketurua. (Kaimanawa) We have a Helisika permit for next month to cross over the private land. I heard few years back that the track up from Cascade had got very overgrown and slow. I need to check possible water source as well. Cheers
I haven't been on the route but researched it a year or so ago.
Apparently the track up from Cascade is not maintained but is still marked OK. Once on the tops be prepared to push through scrub.
I was planning to head along to Waipakahi Hut which was suggested to be a very long day from Cascade. Cascade through to the Ngapuketurua track should be doable though.
Not sure about water.
thanks Ruahine. Taupo tramper has supplied info on water source and track was ok a year ago. We are going out (or in depending on Wx) via Kiko Road.
