Karamea Loop Trips

On my website are a few trips starting at Karamea. www.freewebs.com/hellmission/ You could go up the gorge to Greys Hut about 6-8 hours one way. Don't go in there when its flooding. from there you could explore up river or just elax not many people go there as it is quite challeging as it follows the river where it can round some slippery rocks with the odd track in between. If you are experienced enough Kakapo Hut is worth a visit, one party a year-the best way is from the track up Herbert Ck off the Wangapeka(the track from Belltown almost non exsistant from Bellbird Stream to Kakapo Hut) but at the saddle you have to pick your way down the other side to the river-not marked and is a bit steep then its just a matter of heading down the river, try not to miss the hut!
