Snorers

@Militaris That made me think - if someone is truly affected by noise while trying to sleep im sure they will bring ear plugs with them but what about thoes that can sleep through general noise but you have a monster of a snorer and didnt bring ear plugs? Is it within our right to throw stuff at them and pretend to be asleep so they dont think it you? :) You obviously cant ask them to stop snoring because it is a subconscious function

Need to wash each mouthful down with some water, morning is much nicer that way. Don,t normally need to drink the whole bottle either.
Gotta say I failed at sleeping on trains when travelling Europe, even when we had private sleeping areas.
Our oldest boy can snore with the best of them when he wants. We did the tongariro circuit a few years ago. There were some obnoxious Asian gentlemen who got up well before dawn and make a huge racket that woke the whole hut the first morning. The second evening we plonked him right between the two said Asian gentleman and all giggled as "chainsaw" started doing his thing. Karma is a ... But to be honest when I stay in huts I try to plan the evening in an out of the way seldom visited spot. But if there are residents I'm ready for whatever. Because well, it's a hut. i know trying to sleep when someone is snoring is not the best scenario. But they can't help it. Seriously it's a group of strangers sharing a mouldy rat infested tin shed in the middle of a bush, what do you expect?
Yeah, agree totally with Gaiters last comment. I've suffered on trains, in hostels/backpackers, huts and camping from others snoring,an admit I snore myself occasionally. However I find a set of ear plugs does the business, and also cuts down other noise, wind, rain, noisy kitchen etc. They are always on my kit list.
@PhillipW: where do you get the mouldable silicon ear plugs or do you have to have them made by some hearing aids specialist? I've got some dark blue thingies which may be them and I also have been known to use blue tack but it needs to be replaced reasonably frequently or it gets really soft. I confess I'm a snorer and I suspect it has annoyed people because sometimes I've woken in the morning and a room occupant has decamped to the other bunkroom during the night. If I snore, Frank will often nudge me as he doesn't want people to think he's the culprit. I've been known to sleep in the woodshed. Boozers (the middle-aged chardonny set) can often snore too.
@Honora I get them from pharmacies. http://products.pharmacydirect.co.nz/medical/Silicone-Ear-Plugs I usually find I can reuse them a number of times before they get too grotty.
I just had a set of custom made silicon ones done. Cost $95. Are rated at grade 5. Last a life time. Good for mowing lawns, shooting anything.
I do snore occasionally. Can go weeks without then might snore a bit for a couple of nights. Seems random, maybe it's not. But it's not shaking the walls and it is only for short periods. That being said, whenever I'm in a shared sleeping scenario (including huts) I will tell others around me to feel free to slap or throw whatever if needed. If I was a chronic terrible snorer I would make other plans, but when it's just sometimes I try to be as considerate as possible. @wayno never heard of the snorers in the common area thing. Not terrible idea though.
That sounds about correct I dont snore in empty hutts
thats not what a hut ghost who spoke to me said....
