sir ed at the south pole

Quite a twist in the tail of the story. ;)
Just love that story.
its a deceptive story, Ed was incredibly intelligent. far more intelligent than a lot of people realise as he was was so low key with people. he really did his homework before choosing the massey fergusson tractors they used to get to the pole. he knew they would keep working reliably and they would be able to repair them as they went and wouldn't be too heavy unlike the big snow cats the brits used that broke through crevasses.
I've always loved this story far more than the Everest ascent.
Sir Ed, you bloody legend! :D
