Park Pass

Here's somthing for those into trivia. I am pretty sure Park Pass at the head of the Rockburn is named after James Park who was a geologist and mountaineer and Professor of Mines at Otago University. James Park is the father of Air Chief Marshall Sir Keith Park GCB, KBE, DFC, DCL who we have been seeing a bit about lately with Anzac Day, he was credited with the tactics that saved Britain in the Battle of Britain. Even more trivial is the fact that Keith Park's Great Nephew is my dentist.
Trainspotter is a little unfair perhaps we should start a new catergory say "Newzealophile". Where do you get this stuff. Incredibly interesting maybe its working with books do you actually read everything that crosses your desk?
I have known my dentist is related for a long time, but I saw the documentary on TV yesterday and that spured me to look up the book all about Keith Park in the shop here. That is where I made the connection to James Park and then I thought, of course!, Park Pass. Actually I find it more facinating that my Dentist has this connection with Park Pass than I do with his relationship to the man who saved Britain.
