New Pack

1–10 of 49

G'day all, Im looking at replacing my old pack. Im after a pack for 5-7 day trips, 75-85ltr. What are people using, and any Recommendations would be appreciated? Anyone using the Deuter Aircontact 75+10 ltr? Thanks.
I enjoy my Osprey eXos 46 pack, it is a bit small for your requirements, also own a slightly smaller Vaude pack which has been great. I have no issue in recommending either brand. I have never owned a Deuter but they certainly look like very nice packs.
I like the idea of Osprey, seen a couple of their packs, small but nice and apparently comfortable. However I see on their web site that they do a 110L pack http://www.ospreypacks.com/Packs/ArgonSeriesMens/Argon110/ I'd love to try one of those mothers!
110L? you could use that as a tent aswell.
pmcke does have a notifiable disease....carrymore itus. 110litres youve finally lost it.
You can make a big bag smaller but you can't make a small bag bigger. Too many people choose a small bag and fill it. The harness which makes it comfortable to carry can be compromised by a heavier load. A smaller bags harness isn't usually as load bearing as a bigger bags harness. Attaching stuff to the outside will often result in lost gear or expose it to wear and weather.
bigpaul is quite right, sure you can take less in a big pack but you won't. What gets me is that all these people who have small light packs still seem to have better food than me. :-(
I know what your saying pmcke, it seems that as I buy smaller, lighter gear, my pack is just as full, and just as heavy.
Ahh my favourite subject we should have a bush masterchef competition the winner is the chef that can do the most with the least over the most days. And it all has to come out of a pack that qualifies as lite and tramping safe.
No use pmcke entering that competition! Wouldn't make the qualifying round.
