Advertising content

@Matthew. You might want a word with you advertising provider regarding inappropriate content. I'm getting adverts for dx.com (which I have bought stuff off) in the right column of this site. Which is fine up to a point. The adverts consist of a grid 4 products. Lately this has been 3 LED lightbulbs, and one naked lady. Now, I've bought LED lightbulbs off them, but no naked ladies. And, unlike the majority of internet users, I've never looked for a naked lady on the internet either. So I'm sot sure why they're trying to sell me one via tramper.nz but it sorta rules out using tramper at work! As a family-friendly site, I think you need to let your advertising provider know that R rated content is not acceptable.
@madpom I've being using Adblock Plus for a while now, and it seems to keep out all ads from NZ Tramper. https://adblockplus.org/
Yes - aware I can block ads on my own PC. Not sure about installing it on a work PC tho. And basically porn is not on - we don't want new potential users coming on and seeing that splattered down the advertising column - not a good look. Reckon Matthew should be due some compo for 'damage to reputation' from his advertising provider for that!
I have purchased several naked ladies from them with no issues. :-)
i think the ads are random, and you get whatever ads the ad company want , i dont think matthew has any control. its like toogle ads.. its all or nothing, you get what your given or you don't use the service at all.
Assuming the ads are from google: "Protect the value of your brand and make sure your users have a positive experience by choosing how ads are displayed on your site. You can block those you don’t want to appear, and manage how your ads are shown by choosing which ad formats you'd like to accept. You can also customize the look and feel of your ads to match your site." ( http://www.google.com/adsense/start/why-adsense.html ) So, I'd assume Matthew's agreement with them is for 'appropriate' ads only. In which case they're breaching that agreement and are due a complaint. Put it this way, I'd complain to them if they were serving such things onto a site I ran. In reality - google (or whoever) should be just as interested to hear about this as the site owner. Their reputation as an ad provider is suffering due to a client of theirs (dx.com) not following their rules.
That said, I suspect someone else has already complained. I note that the naked lady I've been getting for the last few days has now been replaced by a submarine.
I been considering getting a submarine from them, but uncertain wither to have it staffed with two or four naked girls.
Whichever you get you'd better hope it works. Hate to think what return postage to Hong Kong would cost.
Google analytics is normally quite good at presenting the appropriate ads (which is why they make more money than microsoft) but they do get it wrong occasionally and sometimes advertisers dont play the game as well. You see DX because you have bought from them. Im getting Aliexpress for the same reason. Both reputable online marketplaces that sell pretty much everything. Ive bought a few tramping bits from aliexpress but the add thats been showing the last few days was selling lingerie. Trust me I have never bough womens underwear without the wife present to try them on. Why these to cos are giving us those ads and not there hiking line is anyones guess. Somehow I suspect Matthew can do nothing about these 2 although he can block casinos and houses of ill repute
