Paringa - Clarke

@HughVn. What's the winter route from the Paringa into the Clarke? You mention it as a viable winter trip. The low, 1282m pass west of Rough Ridge was a mess of avalanche debris on the south side, so I assume that's not the way. Stood on pt1407 2km south of Rough Ridge summit on one trip ( http://routeguides.co.nz/routes/343/?zoom=13 ) between Zeillan and Clarke and looked north up to the top late one winter. It looked like a lovely walk on a broad snowy ridge all the way to the 1803m summit. But from the map the other side into the Paringa looked more serious. A goer? The route I was contemplating on an earlier, cancelled trip through that way was the saddle between Rough Ridge and Mt Chesney. Is that the standard way to go?
There are several options listed in Moirs Guide Nth. My pick would be from the Rock Biv above Tunnel creek hut to McCullaugh Ck. I'll sketch it into http://routeguides.co.nz/. To any one else reading this - in July what matters is the weather and the snow conditions on the day.
