Landsborough from Hopkins via Broderick Pass

Thinking of doing a trip into the Landsborough via Broderick Pass. Have Moir's as a guide but interested in getting some beta from anyone who's done it recently.
I have a friend who did earlier in the summer. His pics are on Facebook at http://www.facebook.com/home.php?#/album.php?aid=2051813&id=1221340192 I will refer him to this forum, he may provide more info.
I just remembered. Part 1 Madpom's adventure describes this route and is only a year old http://www.tramper.co.nz/?3643 Madpom might have something to say. Just remember to read parts 2,3,4 & 5
Hi I did the Elcho - Landsborough - Huxley circut at New Year. From Broderick hut to the Landsborough is pretty straight forward, follow the track and markers to the pass and then make your way down easy slopes veering to the true right as moirs guide book says. The track through the bush is marked by some big rock cairns, track is very rough but there is an odd marker or two. A word of caution when you follow the track down the spur you come out at the top of a large steep slip / bluff going down about 1000 ft to McKenzie Creek, the track here is undercut by about 2m and is very dangerous, stay off this section untill the slip is passed, the track continues down the spur and is steep but OK. When we did this tramp there was a lot of snow on the huxley side of the pass, ice axes needed. Hope this helps, John
Its been over a year since I did this trip and with another trip organised for November, I was looking at other options for similar multi-day trip options in or around this area. Got about 2 weeks to burn, something similar to the Elcho Pass. Any suggestions?? As for the Hopkins Elcho Pass trip, had pretty miserable weather (white out) over the pass that resulted in dropping too early into the basin but despite the notes, it is possible to climb down though wouldn't recommend it, but thankfully picked up some chamois tracks that got me back onto the proper descent ridge leading into the Landsborough. There was only one section heading down the true left that was slow going but other than that it all went pretty well. A very neat trip all and all. Appreciate the help with the route. Came across that slip on the way up to the Broderick and sure enough it required keeping a wide berth. The track start was a bit tricky to find through all the fern but once found was pretty straight forward. Interesting comment from an ol deer hunter was that back in the day, the route up to Broderick from the Landsborough used to be from pretty much behind the old Fraser(??) Hut on the other side of the stream. Need less to say both routes are steep.
