Updates 23 September

Hi, A few small changes have been rolled out. Let me know if I have broken anything. 1) support for the geo and rel-tag microformats (more about microformats here: http://microformats.org/). 2) Changes to the page URLs so that paths are virtual, and don't represent actual files. This helps me keep the file structure tidy. If any links have been broken by this, let me know. 3) Changes to the visual skin. A few more changes need to be made yet -- it's a bit rough. Coming soon: 1) proper support for WGS84 datum. New Zealand topomaps use the NZGD49 datum, but are switching to NZGD2000. Google Maps and GPS units use WGS84 which is almost identical to NZGD2000. The difference between NZGD49 and WGS84 is causing points plotted on Google Maps to be about 200m out of place. 2) a news feed of things your friends are doing on the site. 3) groups and networks. Clubs will be able to create groups with managed membership. 4) privacy controls. Publish information for everybody, your friends, or networks you belong to.
Google Maps should now be plotting correctly. WGS84 coordinates are stored for all points. In future, I would like to add the ability to choose your datum when you are adding points.
Very good Matthew. Now when someone navigates to the Rotorua Tramping and Skiing Club meetings in the Rotorua Women's Club on the 2nd Monday of each month, you will at least be able to hear the hulaballoo from the point navigated to rather than two blocks down the street. Also our club lodge on Rualpehu is in the right place, as re our chalets in National Park. Time to go check out a few huts.
Matthew.. There is something wrong! I just revised Purity Hut in the Ruahines because I noticed with the accurate locations that the location was the old hut not the new one. However google has interpreted my new coordinates as being S39.000 E179.000 even though the nearest hust are still depicted accurately.
Just had a look at memory-map Topo, New Zealand. Purity Hut is located at 39 49 09 S and 176 3 20 E and elevation is 1276 m.
The hut was replaced about a year ago a relocated a copuple of hundred metres up the ridge at S39 49 13.0 E176 03 22.7 which translates to E2771599 N6149392 in NZMG. When I edited the location in this system something seem sto have gone wrong with the Google Window. It will be a bug in the changes that Matthew brought in
For short it is 71.6 E and 49.5 N. How about the route Purity Hut (1276m) - Wooden Peg (1672m) - Iron Peg (1703m)- (Pinnacle Creek?) - Waterfall Hut - Rangi Saddle - Waikamaka River - Waikamaka Hut - Waipawa Saddle (1326m) - Waipawa Fork Hut. Any update/s?. Thanks in advance.

Great work! I was unable to print out a copy of the tramping route (mappa). How can I? Or you can email me the image in format jpg at email address: dzungn@melbpc.org.au Thanks again.
Coordinates are being converted and stored as NZGD2000 automatically. However they were being rounded off to nearest degree by the database. I have fixed this. Thanks for spotting it.
