West Matukituki

Hi everyone I heard that the top swing bridge has been washed out. I am wondering if progress can still be made upstream and if so to what degree of difficulty? If anyone can add any info to my query I would be very greatful Thanks
Was there last week and we were able to cross with little difficulty at a natural ford about 50m upstream of the washed out bridge. However, the river was quite low after a week of nice weather - it could be difficult after rain. Apparently DOC are considering cutting a new track on the true left of the river, rather than continually replacing the top swing bridge which has been washed away a couple of times now.
You beauty cheers for that jimbo
The new track up the true left has now been cut. It is less than a month old and cuttings still have leaves on them. You cross the river at the swing bridge just above Pearl Flat and the track provides easy access to Scott's Bivvy and the upper valley with perfectly dry feet.
