Im sure someone mentioned that Aokaparangi has a new hut to replace the old biv can anyone confirm and is it on the same site?
Yes at about 2006 or 2007 a new biv replaced the old one. It is now on the bushedge but still on the same ridge. A orange triange(large) is just off the side on the ridge and in 2007 a weedeated track led down the ridge and when you get the first view of some trees it is off to the right. We were up there in perfect weather so unsure of what it would be like in zero visibility to find or the condition of the so called track now.
I look forward to a mist enshrouded walk sometime from the 5th to the 9th Jan. Just found the details on docs site.
