My trip plan over Xmas has been changed and now Gillespie and Rabbit Passes tramp is in. Any updates on The Waterfall Face and Rabbit Pass? A lot of thanks.
Hi. I did this route earlier in the year. Great country and the Wilkin is such a lovely valley. I would recommend a north to south direction for waterfall face especially. Follow the markers from Rabbit Pass into the East Matukituki and you'll be OK. Don't try it in mist or poor visibility. See my story and photos at http://andrewbarkersoutherntraverse.blogspot.com/

I just went through your blog. Thanks for sharing your experiences. Pity that you missed the side trip to Lake Diana, Lake Lucidus and Lake Castalia. Keep my fingers cross with weather on the waterfall face climb. Will sit in if conditions are not in favoure or turn back if not sure.
The priority at the moment is to get to the bottom of the south island! I hope to come back and fill in all the wonderfull country I have seen along the way. Cheers Andrew
