Nelson Lakes in December
Hi! I'm planning to go tramping around Nelson Lakes mid of December and looking for people to join me. I'm 30, easy going, have no tramping experience in NZ but have done some hiking in Europe. I'm going to the south Island on the 12th of december. want to do the Travers sabine circuit. contect me if you are keen to do it. also thinking of maybe just 2 days to Mt. Angelus.
I thoroughly recommend the Travers/Sabine valley circuit. Ascending Travers Saddle fromm the hut leads to great views of Mount Travers. Beware the knee-killing descent to West Sabine hut!! I followed the Mount Cedric route over to Lake Angelus, two hours of grunting to the bushline, easier from then on. Please beware, Lake Angelus hut is very full this time of year, and is being re-constructed soon. I suggest you contact Doc for advice.
