Snow on the Ruahines

Hey everyone i'm looking at doing the Sunrise hut next weekend (29/8/09) weather permitting except I live in Dannevirke and I can't see the more northern ruahines so I'm not able to see if theres snow up there or not, and if anyone is looking out there window could they just give me a yell if there is some on this forum. Also does anyone know how far past sunrise is top maropea hut, Thanks very much.
There is very little up there at the moment due to melt and rain. although patchy it was a bit icey up on the Ngamoko Range and a bit hairy without crampons or ice axe! Top Maropea is only a flatish climb up to Armstrong then a wee steep one onto the highest point then along flat again then down the back, less than an hour I think I recall going the other way. adding new pictures and story from the last weekends tramp into the Ruahines. I got the Top Maropea-Sunrise bit in multi-day tramps and the other pages are full of various stories! (www.freewebs.com/hellmission/)
