Packs

Has anyone, or is anyone interested in making their own gear? I've just received a bunch of silnylon and some cuben fibre off-cuts from a sail-shop to use as a ground sheet and weather-proofing for my camera bags and pack.
But looking around there seems to be several hardy, and free, designs with patterns to make your own ULW packs and the like. Not to mention some very interesting looking tent and bivvy designs.
Oooh - a simple answer to the Silnylon question.
Who can I get it from?
My first fly/bivvy is suffering peelingofthewaterprooflayeritis.
Ah sorry, I'm in Aussie with a mate in the boating game. Its all off-cuts from sail making and the like. I'm bringing some more over there next month. If you want some I'll see if I can't get some more.

i am trying out one of Bryan Dudleys lightweight packs. Weight wise its great and comfortable to wear. Although I am finding the lack of pockets frustrating. I was looking to purchase a pack and am considering the osprey aura, any thoughts on the capacity for multiday hikes? but then theres macpac, tried and true... Hmmmmm
I can only comment on the Osprey Exos series for the 46L and 56L models. This pack is great but I think it would only work if you had slimmish hips. Mine are 100cm and any wider might not be so comfortable with the hip belt. I bought the smaller pack and then when I saw the larger model 2nd hand at Bivouac for $159, I bought that one too as I need a pack big enough to carry my plastic mountaineering boots for some trips. This means I can get rid of my heavy Fairydown Nazomi monster.
Can't go past the Aarn load limo with balance pockets, love it to bits it so comfortable with heavy loads you can adjust everything on it and its fully waterproof so all ur gear stays nice and dry would never go back to a conventional pack
