What's on your gear list?

Seeing as we're trying to fill up the forums with a lovely goo of usefull information... you can all share your gear lists! So what do you take on your standard tramp? Try and be as thourough as you can ie. "single man one pole 3 season tent" rather than "tent" include your usual food stock as well if you want.

Clive. Very interesting. I see that you have weighed your pack and jacket as one item, but at 3500g together they look a candidate. There are some great 50L packs in the 800-1300g range that would do 3-4 day trips just fine and a new generation of parkas, that would be more than adequate for 3 season trips, often coming in at under 300g. You should be able to get the pack/parka total to something like 1800g. My picks would be a Aarn Featherlite Freedom (Backpack only) at 1300g and a Montbell Peak Shell at 280g. That sleeping bag is a tad plump too. Again for seasons in huts and bushline camps I'd be thinking of something closer to 800g (or maybe a quilt-style bag around 500g) and combine it with more clothing. And I guess the camera is an important item to you, but for me I'd settle for something maybe less capable, like a Canon DP10, but under 200g. Actually weighing everything like you have and listing it out is the best way forward... I guess I should dig out my old scales and see if I can match your effort. Thanks!

Often I cut back on some items if I need to take extra items due to rain to keep weight down.
Hi Philip W, The parka lives shoved in a pocket on the pack, it was (very) late and I just tried to weigh them as one... but, I agree, it appears there is some weight there that could go. I'm very fond of my pack though. I saw an article in Wilderness Mag where the writer researches buying a new pack, but can't bear to let go of his old one, has it repaired! And yesterday I saw a couple of older-than-me trampers with some wonderful external frame Hallmarks and other... What is it with packs and sentimentality? The sleeping bag is something I'm growing and learning with - I used to hump around a Domex Black Ice XL my parents bought me, it was a second, to much fill! Hahahaa, so, 1400g is a treat! But, given it's a cheap kathmandu item, I think I'll actually cut it down and sew it into a quilt. More info later! I'll have to go through Honora's list soon, I can already see some easy savings. I like the weigh and post, it's a good idea - I encourage others to weigh-and-tell. We'll all learn from each other.
Great thread!! Clive - when are you taking me tramping?
I took this from my spreadsheet, weights as per the kitchen scales. This list covers me for basically any tramp anywhere in NZ without permanent snow and ice. For winter more insulation layers and full length ridgerest are added as well as ice axe/crampons as required. For summer/easier trips staying at huts I strip a lot of the clothes and fly/thermarest out. I often take no-cook food so no stove/billy needed. I am making more and more of my own equipment, I've used brand names where I have brought items. A lot of my gear is pretty generic.
