Heritage park for Coast?
Government is considering making Kawatiri Heritage Park out of 147,000 ha of the West Coast. It will extend 80km north of the Buller River to the Little Wanganui River, east to Kahurangi National Park along the main divide, and west to State Highway 61. Submissions on the proposal close on March 2. DoC's West Coast Conservancy says a heritage park will highlight Buller as an area of historical, natural and recreational importance - and boost tourism. -- Inside Tourism, www.insidetourism.com
