Kakapo Ridge and the Roaring Lion

Has anyone been up to the Roaring Lion and over Kakapo Ridge recently. I know the area is remote and the bush can be dense so I wondered what the route is like. I read what people had writen in the hut book at Karamea bend last year and would like to do the trip this month.
Did you make the trip -this is one of the trip options for our group this summer - we are tramping for a week and were thinking about going down beautiful or ugly river and roaring lion river and possibly some ridge but finding it difficult to find information in books
NZ Wilderness magazine had an article about this some months ago, may be a good place to start.
