Ideas?

I guess the most requested addition to this site has been a discussion forum. Well here it is finally. If there's anything else you would like to see, post it here. Here are some ideas: * Uploading and sharing GPS data * Large slideshows of members' photos * Sharing of folders of photographs and other material with friends or members * Integrated relevant business advertising What else would you like to see?

I have been to the Pinnacles Hut. It is a bit of a monstrosity, 80 bunks would you believe. See http://www.doc.govt.nz/parks-and-recreation/places-to-stay/backcountry-huts-by-region/waikato/hauraki/pinnacles-hut/ on the DOC web site. You can't use your annual pass or backcountry hut tickets and you have to book it, sometimes months in advance.
Peach Cove is listed on this site too, see http://www.tramper.co.nz/?2498
Oh I know! Thankfully I stayed there when it was the old 20 bunker back in 1993/1994 when it was still nice and cosy. Was just wondering if there is hut info on here so I can bag it!! lol! Did a day trip when it was the 80 bunker, near full and it was horrendous!
You can always add it. Its location is 2751619, 6458567, altitude 580m. The rest of the info will be on the DOC website
Thanks heaps for all your help, I'll give it a go. Is it only 580m? Gosh, it felt higher than that when I was starting out!
Lisa, I see you added it. Great! Militaris, is remembering the year too hard? I could add a yes/no option as well if you just can't remember. But as pmcke said, it doesn't really matter. :-) Everybody, if you have any date formats that don't work, let me know. I tried to think of a range. It knows a few words such as "today" as well.
Talking about Pinnacles Hut, a few years back there was some heavy weather and flooding on the the Coramandel. There was an item on One Network News that a number of trampers were trapped in the Pinnacles Hut. One of the news presenters (probably Julie Bayley in those days) turned to the other and said. "It will be a grim night for those poor trampers trapped in the Pinnacles Hut". I was just almost rolling on the floor with laughter at the mere thought. :-)
If you are able friday nights are usually people free in most huts in newzealand. at least thats my experience. Pinnacles hut is a good example the school groups have gone home and the weekend trampers are due in on Saturday night so it can be blissfull with just the odd older retired tramper for company or the occaisional hut warden.
I think I would just enter a rough year, probably would be out by a few.
hehe pmcke ... yes it must have been very grim at Hotel Pinnacle!
