Nice 4 day tramp easy drive from CHCH

1–10 of 13

I'm looking for a nice 4 day tramp within easy drive of CHCH to do early November. I was looking at doing the Three Passes from Arthur's Pass - however I see that its not recommended in November due to the spring melt. Anything considered, the more interested the better :)
Hi. There is a great 3 or 4 day tramp in South Canterbury aabout 2 hrs drive from Christchurch. Four Peaks High Country Track. It is great. Take 3 or 4 days. It is a private station. To get info just Google Four Peaks High Country Track. Great huts - one built mid 1800's.

Thanks @Merlegirl - I'm looking a *real* tramp - not one where I pay someone to carry my pack :) Thanks Waynowski - I've been through all the DOC walks and there is nothing that suits - hence why I am posting here in the hope that someone has put together their own tramp.
i can find plenty of 3 to four day tramps on the doc site just looking at arthurs pass http://www.doc.govt.nz/parks-and-recreation/tracks-and-walks/canterbury/north-canterbury-and-arthurs-pass/
free topomap might help with planning http://www.topomap.co.nz/
Thanks @Waynowski - I'm already using all those resources, and as yet haven't come up with anything. The reason nothing suits from the DOC site is we've already done a number of them, and we also have to factor transport back to the car etc as part of the time. Hence why I'm looking for a specific route that someone has developed themselves. Also Arthurs Pass in November has some limitations as to what passes we can go over.
This for example might hit the spot... http://tramper.co.nz/?3261
part of a trip i did, went over binser saddle. up the cox over cox saddle down the thompson.... we then went over trudge col but you could loop back down the poulter easily from there, you have to sidle part of the upper cox in places, bit of a bush bash but its not that thick... we camped in the valley before cox saddle.
actually we went back up to penny pass and down the minchin, now that was very scenic. you could do that instead..., bush bash to get through the bush to minchin but dead easy when you're out of the bush and a good track ccoming back down, a fantastic gorge there hundreds of metres deep that the track goes above.... either way both scenic trips. cox saddle was very scenic as well
