tramping with younger kids 5+ in NZ
Hi- We wanted to do the milford or routeburn track with our very fit 5 year old who can happily walk 8 miles/13k in Scotland carrying no pack. Are either of these doable/realistic with young kids and has anyboby done other things like day walks etc instead.Ta Liz
Hi Liz, I think there is an age limit of 12 years old. Check it out with DOCS. Cheers,
Peter.
Sorry, I don't think the first message was posted. Just checking, Peter.
Have a look on www.doc.govt.nz
And contact Fiordland DOC with your questions.
A nice walk is down the Hollyford to Lake Alabaster then you can walk on or get a jetboat. then either fly out or return via the same way. Tracknet have good transport to the road end if you are not returning.
Hollyford is on my website(see username) but i went up the more experienced Pyke ROUTE(not maintained)
Cheers Phillip
