DUSKY TRACK, MAY

How long you going for?? 8-10days?

7 days is the standard if you spend a night down at Supper Cove. The Dusky isn't really a track you can skip huts on without doing 10+ hour days. More realistically would be 8-9 days. It is very easy to get flooded in on the stretch from Supper Cove right up to Kintail hut which is potentially 4 days out of the 7 day trip! I did it in 8 days due to a flood day at Loch Maree. Thankfully the water goes down just as fast it as it comes up. I can highly recommend spending an extra day at Lake Roe and exploring the surrounding tops. Simply stunning spot.

if it's flooded, you're taking your life in your hands attempting to enter the water with something like that, with the speed and turbulence of the rivers... the standard practice is to wait out teh flood until teh rivers drop to safe levels... they drop relatively quickly once rain stops
you can easily get trapped by submerged obstacles in teh river when it's flooded.
We did this in Summer but encountered snowing on top and it was all flood in the valley. Not recommand to walk this route in May.
