Track from Gebbies Pass to Packhorse Hut

Hi, does anyone know if this track can currently be accessed? DoC are telling people that logging is taking place there at the moment but they may not be sure of this. If logging is taking place, can people just go up the track in the evenings or weekends when there are no machines or people working there?
A MTB pal wants to know.
