Tramps near Dunedin
Does anyone know of some tramps or routes within a 100km radius of Dunedin that go above 1000m apart from the Rock and Pillars?
Make that a radius of 150km from Dunedin
There isn't much ground over 1000m within 150km of Dunedin apart from the Rock & Pillar.
I suggest you go a meeting of the OTMC http://www.tramper.co.nz/?2202 They meet every Thursday night at 7:30pm in their club rooms at 3 Young St St Kilda.
They can tell you all about the Silver Peaks, which is great tramping country on a smaller scale. Also the club organises trips to the big mountains regularly and it may be easier to go on these trips than to try and organise your own.
