Rees Dart/Cascade Saddle
Planning to do the Rees/Dart in late December 2011 and wondering about the possibility of walking from Shelter Rock hut to just below the Cascade saddle in a day? It looks like there is a campsite at Cascade Creek and would love to be able to hike up the saddle at sunrise (and avoid the crowds at Dart hut). From the DOC sites I can't tell if its doable or not. I know it involves about 2000m elevation gain in a day and we are both mid forties but fairly fit.......if we take it slow is it possible?
oops, sorry just realized I posted on the wrong thread......
