Great Barrier Island - Mt Hobson

Hi, After reading conflicting comments I'd thought i'd post on here. From Aotea Road, following Palmers Track - how long does it take return (back to Aotea Rd) to the top of Mt Hosbon? - do you pass through Windy Canyon on the way? How difficult & maintained is this route? Thanks
Hi Myron, Palmers Track to Mt Hobson starts at the top of the Okiwi Hill. Depending on where you're staying you can either catch the People and Post bus from the south to drop you off or if you're staying in the north there's a local shuttle. It's about 2 hours each way and goes through Windy Canyon with spectacular views. There's also options to walk down to the Kaiaraara Hut via the Kauri Dam track, stay the night there and a couple of other options to get back south either walking or catching the People and Post bus at 10.45am from Port FitzRoy. Cheers Kay
