Routeburn in May 2011 ?

G'day Frank. I've run the Routeburn Classic which is in early May each year. The track tends to be pretty icy on rocky sections and there's usually a good amount of snow about, especially over the passes. I'm doubtful you'd need crampons etc in mid-May but as it's a couple of weeks after I've done it, the weather might have really bitten in by then. It's a magic tramp but that time of year, might be border line depending on how the weather is over the next few weeks. Have a good one up there, Mike.
