Lake Daniells and ford over the Maruia Rive
I am a little older than most of you
i remember long before the vurrent swing bridge there was a double wire and a wire chai some 200 metres upstream between two rock outcrops The evidence is probably still there. I know the area well, I fell out of the chair when it broke. I would be very pleased to find photo of this wire crossing probably 1950-60 Can you help cruze
While on the suject of river crossing I would also like to find some photos of the crossing of the Haast before the bridge was built in 1965? Either John Nolan and his Draught
horsed towing the boat or an the Cron Sister rowing across to collect stranded travellers/trampers I crossed the Haast in flood and obviously lived to tell that one too! Some old photos would be wondeeful Rgds Cruze
