Full day tramp - Te Anau
If you had one day to get your novice girlfriend interested in tramping, which track would you take her to?
Conditions: Must depart and return to Te Anau within 1 day (ie. leave in the morning, return in evening). You have a car as a mode of transport. You both have hiking boots if they're needed. Girlfriend exercises. Trip is mid-way through October.

In one day? Bugger that!
Drive her along the Milford road to Milford Sound. When you go through the Homer tunnel immediatly stop at the first layby you come to once clear of the Western end of the tunnel and get out of you car and then just look at the surrounding mountains. Then, stop at the Divide to climb up Key Summit. Make sure its a day where Key Summit isnt socked in with cloud.
If the sight of Milford Sound, Lake Marian, the Darrans, the Main Divide and the Hollyford stretching off into the distance doesnt do it for her then shes a lost cause! ;-)
Actually, you can get around the intier Kepler in one day if you start at about 6am, back at the control gates by about 6pm! Maybe not in October, though!
