Borland / Green Lake in Winter

Hi guys, I am planning on going tramping in the Borland next w-e and was wondering if any of oyu has already done it. I would eitehr try and climb Mt Cuthbert or if teh Borland Rd is in good condition try to reach the tops above Green lake via Borland saddle. has anyone here an idea bout the snopw conditions and avalanche risk? Cheers Nic
I know the Otago tramping clubs been over that way in winter in the past. Not familiar with their exact route though. Their summer route usually involves climbing the peaks to the NE of Greenlake (between the Borland road and Greenlake) and camping up there. All I can say is Im jealous. Rodgers Inlet hut-Mt Cuthbert-Greenlake hut-Monowai hut-Grebe valley has been on my to do list for a while now!
We used to tramp in there way back in the 1970s. I haven't been there recently but it is great country. Our trips were often in the winter so it is certainly a place that you can go to any time of year.
