Bealey Spur Hut
Arthur's Pass National Park
Historic 1925 musterers' hut on an easy grassy spur over the Waimakariri River.
Old basic hut built around 1925 by musterers with open fire and 6 bunks. Beds are ok, but if it's cold outside, then it's cold inside, despite the fire. Hut is still in the forest so you have to walk a little bit to enjoy the great views of Arthur's Pass valley. You have to go outside to get water, if it's not frozen. Possums try to break in at night ;).
Mattresses have been removed (as of January 2017), so you need to bring your own, or spend a cold night.
