Getting there
|
Otehake route: take NZFS track to open tops, descend via scree that narrows into a fault scarp valley. Townsend route: from Townsend hut, sidle and climb around 2 spurs and basins to gain saddle that overlooks Koropuku Valley. Koropuku gorge route: drop down from Otehake track to junction of river with gorge. Travel up gorge (agile scrambling required) till meets Big Gully. Go up this approx 80m vertical and then sidle, maintaining altitude till opposite "fault scarp" gully. Ref Remote Huts |
