Back Ridge Hut
Kaweka Forest Park
A forestry hut (4 bunks, stove, firewood available, stream water) on the valley floor 5 minutes off the main Back Ridge track. The location marks the end of the beech forest (the manuka changes to beech at Back Ridge Biv further down the ridge), and the beginning of tussock. It's also where the ambling track along the summit of Back Ridge abandons it's easy-going nature and ascends the steep slopes to the Kaweka J summit.
A clear marked track to the hut is signposted from the main Back Ridge track.
