25 Mile Hut

Mount Aspiring National Park, Te Wāhipounamu - South West New Zealand World Heritage Area

*EDIT* From DOCs website: 28 April 2016: Rees Valley - 25 Mile Hut removed The derelict 25 Mile Hut in the Rees Valley has been removed. Camping on the old hut site is not permitted - the site is on private land.

This is a near derelict hut near the Rees Dart track, which had for many years been maintained by the Otago Tramping and Mountaineering Club. It is in an ideal location on a terrace above the river and can easily be missed from the track. It is also often seen on the map and mistaken to be similar to one of the other new well appointed huts on the track. Don't be mistaken, unless you want to share the night with rats and mice.

As of November 2008 this hut was handed back to Rees Valley Station who will decide on its future. In 2016 Rees Valley Station demolished it.
