A standard DOC hut with six bunks and a wood burner situated on the bushline 45 minutes below the ridge leading to the summit of Mt. Starveall.Great views over Nelson area and out over the bay to Motueka.

From the Hackett carpark take the track to the Hackett Hut.Without crossing the river to the hut continue on the track to Starveall, there are a number of river crossings (7, I think) before you steadily climb away from the river and up to Starveall hut and access to the track leading to the mountain top and beyound (Slaty hut etc.)
