Salisbury Lodge
Kahurangi National Park
A big beautiful hut. Four large sleeping platforms with mattresses. Gas cookers (2 sets of 4 rings) and 2 gas heaters. Gets crowded during peak season. Great base for walks to: Dry Rock Shelter, Gordon's Pyramid, Sphinx & Pillar Caves.
The previous hut (1920s-1975) was situated half an hour down Salisbury's Open, near the Dry Rock Shelter.
Before this, John Park Salisbury sketched a 'hut on Salisbury's Open' during the late 19th Century. Prior to this, he slept under the Dry Rock.
